Initial email account setup

Choose Email to start setting up the email client, then press next

Fill in the relevant fields then press next

Enter email name and email password, select POP or IMAP depending on your needs to set up and use email

Enter the Incoming and Outgoing server addresses respectively – this information you can ask the mail server administrator.

IMAP sent folder (IMAP sent folder)

To make sure that your sent IMAP messages are stored on the server and not locally, locate your sent folder. Follow the steps below:

Step 1: From the menu in Opera, select Mail Accounts.

Step 2: Select IMAP account, then Edit.

Step 3: Tab selection IMAP.

Step 4: In schools Sent folder, select a folder to store sent messages.

Step 5: Click OK.

What is POP and IMAP?

These are the standard Internet protocols for accessing email.

• POP leaves messages on the server, download them to your computer, and manage them in Opera Mail.
• IMAP allows you to manage email directly on the server. Since the emails are still on the server, they can be accessed from another online connection, or offline if you have downloaded the message body.

Opera Mail uses the following protocols: POP3, IMAP, (E) SMTP, RSS (RDF Site Summary and Really Simple Syndication), Atom, and NNTP.

Non-standard server port

The default ports used are 143 for IMAP, 110 for POP, and 119 for NNTP. If your ISP uses a non-standard server port, you can enter it after the server name in the form “servername: port“, such as “pop.example.com:111“.

Secure connection (TLS)

TLS allows for highly secure encrypted communication between mail clients, such as Opera Mail, and a server. Encrypted communication allows you to send passwords and other important data over the Internet without fear of being followed by others. Opera Mail supports TLS, but your ISP must support a secure TLS connection to use this feature.
